WILD!

Last Thursday Josh was off! Yeah! So we decided we should make Michael's long awaited "First Trip to the Zoo". My parents bought Michael a St. Louis Zoo Membership, for his Birthday in May and we've just been waiting for a good- non weekend day- to go. So at 7:30am off we went. When we arrived at the Welcome Desk, Michael received his Zoo backpack and journal (which you know I'll be writing in). If you haven't been to the St. Louis Zoo, or haven"t been in a while, put it on your list. Our beloved STL Zoo is now ranked #1 in the Nation, admission is free, the Children's Zoo is free for the first hour the zoo is open, and the exhibits are wonderful- bringing you up close and personal to the animals (more on that later). Can YOU come out and play?

Michael loved petting the goats, and he tried to hang on one of their horns:0

What is Michael making that face for?

A. he's tired
B. a "problem" downstairs
C. a penguin swam by and splashed him in the face

If you answered A,B,or C... you are correct!

The Penguin and Puffin Coast was a favorite, we were so close to these swimming, squawking penguins, that we could have reached in and touched them. One came swimming along the edge and splashed stinky penguin water all over Michael and me! It was hilarious... and kinda gross.

Pic 1-We have no idea what Michael is looking at, but check out his gnarly STL Zoo train shirt his savvy parents picked up at a yard sale, 1 dollar!
Pic 2- We decided Michael needed a memento from his first Zoo trip, and like any good mom, I picked out a book;) Also appropriate after the stinky -water- Penguin incident.
Pic 3- Yes, those are fascinating Hippo's. There were about 5 of them hanging out so everyone could see. Yes, Michael is checking out the yellow fish- to each his own.

We held up an entire Summer Camp group to get this picture...OOPS- we're THOSE people.
But worth it, don't you think?

Taller then a Red Tailed Hawk, a little short of Koala.

We had a blast at the STL Zoo and hope to enjoy many more visits. Josh and I hope to help Michael gain an appreciation and love for all of Heavenly Father's creatures, no matter how big, small, or stinky they are;) That is why we hope these visits will become so special and fun for us.

P.S. That top picture is Michael's protest to sunscreen, like father like son:)
